Bulldogs claim 7th straight NIC title

The Lake Mills volleyball team won their seventh consecutive North Iowa Conference championship Monday beating Forest City 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-12, 25-18) in the finals.
“We did a good job defensively,” Lake Mills head coach Jim Boehmer said. “I am real proud of their effort tonight.”
The No. 9 Bulldogs’ (33-1, 12-0 NIC) offense was led by Abbey Honsey who had eight kills on 19 total attacks.
“She allows us to spread the ball around and be multi-dimensional with five solid hitters,” Boehmer said.
Defensively, Micah Peters, Morgan Fjelsted and Amanda Lampman led the way with 12, 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
“We picked up a lot of first balls,” Boehmer said. “We had to do that to win.”
Josie Brackey led the team with 16 kills.
The Bulldogs beat Osage 3-0 (25-22, 25-18 and 25-20) to in the semifinals.
