Here are highlights in history for Oct. 6, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1985 — An illustration on the front page showed the seven-story senior housing structure that would be sponsored by VFW Post 447 and located near the north end of Broadway Avenue. (Note: This project never became a reality.)

1975 — King Olaf V of Norway was in the U.S. on an official visit and would be in Minnesota for three days.

1965 — Drilling of a new city water well near the corner of Fourth Avenue and Front Street was under way. This well would be 365 feet deep and have water output of 1,500 gallons per minute.
