Weekend Planner

The Albert Lea Community Theatre opens its 46th season today with the comedy “Alone Together.”

“Alone Together” is a heartwarming Broadway comedy with a wise and witty view of the relationship between parents and their grown children. The production was written by Launence Roman and directed by Gordy Handeland.

Tony Segura, the vice president of the ACT Board of Directors, declares it “a must see.”

“People should come see the show because I’m sure many people can relate to it,” he said. “It’s also hysterical. After the couple sends their last child to college, they can finally relax, sort of. One by one, each one ends up coming home.”

The production features several local actors, including Brian Mattson and Joshua Ausen from Albert Lea, Mark Place from Owatonna, Emily Miller from Austin, Brittany Stouwie from Clarks Grove and Zack Roberts from Alden.

Other crew members include stage manager Kris Bartley, backstage crew Karen Szymanowski and Kathy Brekke and costumes and props by Crystal Schatz.

The show runs Oct. 7 to 9 and Oct. 13 to 16. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. each day of the show.

Admission is $14 for adults and $10 for students.

Segura said season tickets are still available, with the first choice of seats and four shows for the price of one.
