Three players scored two goals each Thursday, and the Albert Lea girls’ soccer team routed Austin 10-0 at Hammer Field.

Ariel Christensen, Anna Anderson and Katie Williamson eached scored two goals for the Tigers, while Taylor Friehl, Sydney Overgaard, Brooke Hanson and Alaynna Chavez each netted one.

“Our system and lineup really clicked,” Albert Lea head coach Rick Barnhill said of the match. “And we found that our young players are no longer so young anymore because they’ve been playing with regular continuity throughout the season.”

Anna Brouwers played in goal for the first 65 minutes and Jaclyn Weitzel played the final 15 minutes.

The Tigers play their first section match against Austin Monday at Hammer Field.

“The key to our future success in sections will be for all of us to pay no attention to the faults or things left undone by others,” Barnhill said. “But rather just consider what is done or left undone by one’s self.”
