Two forums for candidates in four local races will take place this week in Albert Lea.

The first, a forum for Freeborn County sheriff candidates, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Albert Lea City Hall. Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig and his challenger, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office supervisor Bob Kindler, will participate. The event is open to the public.

The second event, which is Saturday at Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services in Albert Lea, begins with a breakfast at 8 a.m. The forum starts at 8:30 a.m.

Candidates in attendance Saturday will be incumbent District 27 Sen. Dan Sparks and challenger Kathy Green, District 27A Rep. Robin Brown and opponent Rich Murray, and District 27B Rep. Jeanne Poppe and challenger Jennifer Gumbel.

The breakfast costs $7.50 and reservations are required. Call the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce at 507-373-3898 to make reservations.
