The Wartburg College Dance Team competed in the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Championships on Dec. 4 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Alexandra Ciota, daughter of Dr. Mark and Allison Ciota of Albert Lea, is a member of the team.

Wartburg competed in the college pom category against Clarke College, Central College, Grand View University, Simpson College, St. Ambrose University, William Penn University and Morningside College.

Teams are judged by a panel of judges from across the U.S. on appearance, choreography, execution, technique and general effect/showmanship. Teams are awarded Division I, II and III ratings and trophies are given to high-scoring teams in each category. Dancers are also recognized for academics, community service and sportsmanship.
