Third annual concert at United Methodist Church will have music, food and costumes
You are invited to join in the fun at the third annual PipeScreams Concert on Sunday, Oct. 24, at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The concert will begin promptly at 3:36 p.m. This annual concert is full of music associated with the season of Halloween.
Robert Tewes will open the program with the famous “Toccata and Fugue in D minor” by JS Bach. Gail Thumau will perform Leon Boellmann’s “Toccata in G minor” and Eileen Nelson Ness will play Edward Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” There will also be an organ duet of Saint-Saens famous “Danse Macabre.” Sue Jorgensen and Mary Wayne will offer a rendition of Rossini’s “Comic Duet for Two Cats” and The Stray Notes will sing “Seeing Things at Night.”
The Albert Lea Area Youth Choir will perform “Splish, Splash, I was Taking a Bath” and the Albert Lea Cantori will sing Orban’s “Daemon Irrepit Callidus.” Special guests Stuart and Christie Ness will sing “Love Potion Number Nine.” There will be audience participation with every enchanting pumpkin carol and pumpkin trivia. Come early and enjoy a bag of popcorn and a cup of apple cider from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged not only for the young but for adults also. Bring a friend. The concert is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken for the Organ Voicing Project.
