Ashley Hagen, the daughter of Steve Hagen of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Ann Qual of Alexandria, will be participating in a choral and string performance at Bethany Lutheran College. Hagen is a 2008 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

The Bethany Concert Choir under the direction of Dennis Marzolf, the Mary Martha Singers directed by Ann Fredrickson, and the Bethany String Ensemble under the direction of Adrian Lo combine talents for an afternoon of musical entertainment in Bethany’s Trinity Chapel on Sunday, Oct. 17.

The Concert Choir will perform “To Music” by Schubert, “Hosanna to the Son of David” by Gibbons, “Gypsy Life” by Schumann, and “When to the Temple Mary Went” by Eccard. The Mary Martha Singers will favor the audience with “Lovely Appear” by Gounod, “Evening Star” by Wagner, and “Aleluia Brasileira” by Manuel. The select Chamber Choir will sing “Never Weather-Beaten Sail” by Campion and “Rise Up!” by Walter. All three choirs will combine to perform “Jerusalem” by Parry. Student pianist Marcus Bitter will perform the first movement of Schumann’s “Piano Concerto in A minor” with the String Ensemble and selected instrumentalists.
