WELLS — The running Rebels hosted their annual “No Frills” Invitational at Oakview Golf Course Tuesday and finished second in both the girls and boys competition.

The team from La Crescent won both competitions. The La Crescent girls’ team is currently No. 4 in Class A.

Taking first in the girls’ race was Rebels’ sophomore Hannah Goemann with a career best time of 15 minutes and 49 second.

Andree Escherich finished 12th, with Amber Klein (14th), Abby Trio (15th), Emily Mantor (17th) and Shayna Stevermer (18th) finishing in a pack.

Dylan Baumann led the boys’ race with a second-place finish, followed closely by Daniel Elmer who finished sixth. Adam Stevermer (19th), Brett Stevermer (22nd) and Thane O’Rourke (23rd) rounded out the scoring for the Rebels.

‘It appears that we are peaking at the right time,” Rebels head coach Kent Viesselman said. “Our top six boys and six of our top seven girls turned in their best performances of the season. Both teams cut well over two minutes off their team time.”
