Fashion will hit a stage in Albert Lea later this month. Only it won’t be high couture from New York, Paris or even Minneapolis. Locals will model dresses and other vintage clothing from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.

And the ’50s, ’40s, ’30s and the Roaring ’20s.

Fashions Through the Years is a style-show brunch to be at Bethany Hall of First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St., Albert Lea, on June 23. It is a fundraiser for the Freeborn County Historical Museum’s building fund. Museum staff and supporters on May 9 broke ground for the museum’s $1.7 million expansion. So far, the project’s fund has about $1 million, enough for the first phase.

Kelly Schultz, program chairwoman at the museum, will be the mistress of ceremonies at Fashions Through the Years.

The show will feature 10 women modeling dresses, shoes, hats and gloves from the 1920s all the way to the 1980s.

Not all outfits are to be dresses. An early 1950s Girl Scouts uniform will be worn. So will a rodeo outfit from the late 1940s.

Not all models will be women. A man is slated to show off a wool suit.

The deadline for purchasing tickets is this Friday. Tickets are available for $15 at the Freeborn County Historical Museum, Mary-Go-Round Shoppe, Addie’s Floral and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce.

There will be no sales at the door. Attendees are encouraged to wear vintage attire, too.

The brunch starts at 9:30 that morning, with the style show from 10 to 11 a.m.
