ALDEN — Morin Lake Days in Alden this weekend will have a little something for all ages.

A marching band entertains crowds during Morin Lake Days in 2011.

The weekend kicks off Friday with a medallion hunt, with the first clue posted on the front door of City Hall at noon. Clues will be posted at noon and 6 p.m. each day until the medallion is found. If not found by 1 p.m. Sunday, the clues will be posted each hour until the medallion is found. The prize is $50.

A fishing contest will begin at 1 p.m. at Morin Lake sponsored by the Lion’s Club. Participants are asked to meet by the shelter at 1 p.m.

Friday will also have a kiddie carnival, a tractor pull, a softball tournament, a home run hitting contest and a free family show at the Alden-Conger School gym, among other activities.

Saturday will start with coffee and treats at United Methodist Church and a pancake breakfast by the Legion.

Also in the morning is the annual Morin Lake Days fun run at 9 a.m. The race includes a 10K, three-mile run and a one-mile run or walk. All entrants receive a T-shirt. Registration and sign-in begins at 8 a.m. at Hemmingsen’s Transfer parking lot.

Throughout the day there will be canoe races and activities on the lake, softball and volleyball tournaments, a parade and then fireworks at dusk over Morin Lake.

Morin Lake Days will feature a fireworks show at dusk Saturday, like these from last year.

New this year will be inflatable obstacle courses and bouncers for children from 1 to 4 p.m.

The night will end with both a teen street dance and a street dance for adults ages 21 and over. Cost is $5 for the adult street dance.

On Sunday, there will be a special worship service by Morin Lake with a dove release. Softball tournaments will go through the day.

Throughout the weekend, the community museum will be open for self-guided tours. It is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday and Monday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
