Lens and Shutter photography club

The Albert Lea Lens and Shutter Club held its annual awards picnic at the home of Darrel and Jamie Hauer on May 17. There were 18 members and four guests in attendance.
May’s contest category was “Open.” Judges were Dustin Peterson and Rachelle Roth. Guest judge was Bonita Moeller.
Members receiving competition awards were:
First: “Native Dress” by Mitch Pederson
Second: “Frosty Blue Jay” by Darcy Sime
Third: “Antelope Canyon” by Bernadine Peterson
End of the year judging for “Best of the Best” was done by Peoble Photography:

First: “Fall Barn” by Darcy Sime
Second: “Front & Ready to Roll” by Rachelle Roth
Third: “Little Red Squirrel” by Mitch Pederson
Ken Wangen Award: Bernadine Peterson for “Got Mail”
June Wells Award: Jim Wendel for “Carriage Rider”
A selection of photos from the group’s end of the year judging, including winning pictures, will be displayed in the lobby of the Farmers State Bank, 1452 W. Main St., Albert Lea, this month. Each month there is a new display of club pictures at the bank.
Officers were installed at the meeting:
President: Darcy Sime
Vice president: Mitch Pederson
Secretary: Shanda Meyer
Treasurer: Barb Rofshus
There were three awards for N4C Photo Journalism Print competition. Jamie Hauer won a second place for her “Wrong Way Out” photograph, John Eisterhold received a Merit award for his “Squirrel Proof Feeder” photograph and Bernadine Peterson received a Merit award for her photograph entitled “They Couldn’t Save This One.”
No awards for either of the N4C Digital competitions.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at Rofshus Precision Machine, 1701 Margaretha Ave., Albert Lea. Competition category will be floral. The program will be a video of photos by John Eisterhold.
