Ordella Furland, 83, Blue Earth

Ordella Furland, 83, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th Street, in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. Ordella was born Oct. 15, 1927, at Montrose, S.D., the daughter of Andrew and Serina (Soma) Eastvold. She lived in Montrose, S.D., until age 9 when her family moved to rural Frost, where she completed her education at Frost country schools. She was married to Earl T. Furland on Oct. 12, 1945, in Blue Earth. The couple farmed near Frost for many years while Ordella also worked seasonally at Green Giant and later with Telex. Following Earl’s death in 1985, Ordella worked with the Blue Earth Chamber of Commerce and spent 20 years working at Walmart in Blue Earth as a greeter. Ordella was a long-time member of United Lutheran Church in Frost and later became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. Ordella was active in all aspects of her church where she taught Sunday School, volunteered with release time and was member of the Christian Women’s Group.

Ordella is survived by significant other, Arling Larson of Emmons; her son, Larry (Roberta) Furland of Mankato; her daughter, Lisa (Brett) Wirth of Blue Earth; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl, in 1985; two sisters: Bertha Eastvold and Corrine Frandle; and four brothers: Julius, Arnold, Jake and Barney Eastvold.
