Here are highlights in history for Oct. 29, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1983 — The Tribune published a list of 10 guidelines for parents to use for their children regarding trick or treating on Halloween.
1973 — The featured speaker for the annual dinner meeting of the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce at the Kahler Motel was Jim Klobuchar, columnist for the Minneapolis Star.
1943 — Area farmers were being urged to turn in all available scrap metal as part of the county’s World War II scrap metal drives. The metal was needed for the production of warfare equipment.
