Southwest students conduct service projects

Southwest Middle School has many service projects going on this school year.
One that wrapped up on Nov. 13 was the annual food drive.
The students and staff were encouraged to bring in more items than last year, which was 1,680 items. This year the students (and staff) brought in 2,067 items. That was 387 items more than last year.
There was some friendly competition between advisories that really got the students (and staff) excited about giving.
The school theme of “Pay It Forward” really shows through the generosity of students and staff. Southwest was also able to donate 100 pounds of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald house this fall.
Some other service projects will be going on throughout the rest of the school year.
The school is also collecting Boxtops for Education, Nelson’s Market Place receipts, Campbell’s Soup labels, and milk caps from various companies (it is printed on the top of the milk cap).
If anyone has any of these items and wants to donate them to the middle school, please drop them off in the conveniently placed containers in front of the main office inside Southwest Middle School.
