Thanks to restaurant for honoring veterans

Applebee’s restaurant gave an exceptional kindness to our past and present servicemen on giving them a “thank you” meal on Veterans Day. Bill, who served on the USS Yorktown CV10 Aircraft Carrier in the South Pacific during World War II, and I were among the crowd packed into Applebee’s on Veterans Day.
As we got into the car to go to Albert Lea, Bill said, “Freedom is not free: It is an incredible sacrifice!” We drove to Applebee’s with heavy hearts. That morning we received the news that a nephew-in-law, overseas in the Air Force, was dead.
We were seated, and Nesia, a gregarious and bubbly young lady, came greeting uss with a huge smile. She helped raise our spirits so Bill could enjoy his “thank you” steak and my Weight Watchers fish.
Thanks to Applebees for honoring the past and present servicemen for their struggle, suffering and incredible sacrifice.
