Farming of Yesteryear hosts horse show, swap meet and tractor pull

Farming of Yesteryear, two miles east and then two miles south of Kiester, will hold its annual horse show, swap meet and tractor pull on Saturday and Sunday.

Gates will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is free.

A safe driving clinic will be held Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. It is open to all who are interested in learning to drive a single or double hitch. Beginners are welcome. It is not necessary to bring your own horse or mule. There will be rigs available. For information, call Jake at 507-383-1966.

The horse and mule fun show will be held Saturday. Registration is at 10 a.m., and the show at 11. Cost is $3 per animal entered. Classes include single hitch all-breed, all vehicles; senior western pleasure, 16 years and over; junior western pleasure, 15 years and younger; two up hitch, all breed, all vehicles; lead line, 7 and younger; donkey race, 7 and younger (donkeys will be provided); walk-trot, 12 and younger; egg and spoon; candy bar race, 12 and younger; panty hose race; senior citizen driving, 60 years and older, all vehicles; youth hitch, 15 and younger, all vehicles; ladies’ hitch, 16 and older, all vehicles; barrel race; key hole jumping; mule jumping; cart hitch obstacle course; hitch wagon obstacle course; ridden obstacle course; and log skidding.

On Sunday, there will be an antique tractor pull. Weigh-in is at 10 a.m. with an 11 a.m. start. Call Roger at 507-294-3440 or Warren at 507-525-1828 for more information on the tractor pull.

On both days, there will be food stands, a country store, blacksmith shop, camping and more. There will be blacksmith and ropemaking demonstrations both days.
