ROSE CREEK — The ribbon cutting ceremony for the newest stretch of the Shooting Star Trail is slated for this evening.
The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. today. It is to be near the Rose Creek City Hall, at the intersection of Mower County Highway 4 and Highway 19.
Legislators, commissioners and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources representatives have been invited to the ceremony, said Becky Hartwig, owner at the Rose Pedaler. After the ribbon is cut, cake will be served.
Leading up to the event, all are invited to join in on a bike ride along the new trail segment from Adams to Rose Creek. Organizers are hoping for 100 people to participate in the ride, Hartwig said. Anyone interested in riding can show up, and the group will depart at 6 p.m.
Construction on a bridge over Albert Lea Lake for the Blazing Star Trail presently is scheduled to begin either this fall or next spring.
