EMMONS — This border town 14 miles south of Albert Lea will throw its annual town party this weekend called Borderfest.

Friday night will feature the band Shag and a street dance. Cost is $5 at the door. Friday is also the first day of the softball tournament.

On Saturday there will be a parade through town at 10:30 a.m. From 9 a.m. to noon is a bake sale at the senior center. At 11:15 is the kiddie parade. Then at 11:30 a.m. there will be a one-hour show downtown by Sheltered Reality.

Then from noon to 3 p.m. is the car show, with a cruise to follow. At 1 p.m. there will be an ATV mudbog with registration at 11 a.m., and from 2 to 4 p.m. is Bovine Bingo. Starting at 3 p.m. is the kids pedal pull and other activities.

From 4:30 to 7 p.m. the Emmons American Legion will host a pork chop supper. Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Menu includes grilled pork chops, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls, lemonade and coffee. The dinner is a fundraiser for Gateway Park improvements and other community projects.

Country singer Dunnell Lenort will provide free music in the early evening. Then the Johnny Holm band performs during the street dance at 8:30 p.m. downtown. Cost is $15 at the door.

New this year will be a free round-trip shuttle service from the Skyline Plaza parking lot to downtown Emmons for the street dance.
