Here are highlights in history for Nov. 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — There were six young women who were candidates for the Miss Albert Lea title.

1977 — The Tribune’s first Holiday Cookbook would feature recipes by area residents and was on sale at 45 cents a copy. For that same price this cookbook would be sent to people anywhere in the continental U.S.

1937 — An Albert Lea resident had a pet raccoon named Billy the Coon. Billy would do somersaults and other tricks for his favorite treat — dog food.
