The second person to be named to the 2012 Albert Lea Hall of Fame will be Jack Woodside.

Woodside is a 1954 graduate of ALHS. He played basketball and baseball.

He captained his basketball team to a 14-3 record in his senior year.

Woodside set a career-scoring record at 322 career points while averaging 18.5 points per game. In 1954 he was named to the All-Area Basketball Team.

On the baseball team, Woodside played shortstop. Besides the high school team, Woodside played for the Albert Lea Packers and in 1955 was offered a contract to play professional baseball.

Woodside is a United States Navy veteran who served from 1957-59.

In 1988, Woodside was inducted into the Freeborn County Hall of Fame.

At the July 7 event, Woodside will join seven other inductees at Wedgewood Cove Golf Course for the induction ceremony. A golf tournament, silent auction and dinner will be held.

The speaker at the banquet will be Eric Nyquist, a 1990 graduate of ALHS, who is currently working for NASCAR. Nyquist has also worked for the Chicago White Sox and also the National Football League.
