Voters re-elected incumbents Tuesday in both the Senate District 26 and House District 26B races, which include Ellendale.

In the Senate District 26 election, Republican Mike Parry will serve a second term in his position, after defeating DFL candidate Alex De Marco by 8 percent.

According to election results, Parry, received 15,337 votes, or 54 percent, while De Marco received 12,893 votes or 46 percent.

Parry, of Waseca, was initially elected to the state Senate in a special election earlier this year after Sen. Dick Day resigned.

Parry is a small business owner and former member of the Waseca City Council and Waseca Economic Development Authority and Waseca Development Corporation.

De Marco, of Faribault, is a lawyer who sought to represent working class men and women.

In the House District 26B race, incumbent Rep. Patti Fritz won a tight race over Dan Kaiser in the election for this legislative seat.

According to election results, Fritz, DFL-Faribault, received 6,611 votes or 50.5 percent, while Kaiser, R-Medford, received 6,459 votes or 49.4 percent. The difference was 152 votes.

Fritz, who was first elected to the seat in 2004, previously worked as a nurse at St. Lucas Care Center.

Kaiser, 52, is a deputy state fire marshal.

District 26B includes portions of Rice and Steele counties.
