If you haven’t planned for it already, watch out for the heat this week.
The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for the region through 10 p.m. Friday. Meteorologists say hot temperatures and high humidity will create “dangerous heat conditions” throughout the week. Heat indexes will likely hit 100 to 115 degrees throughout the next couple days, possibly ending Friday.
Residents should plan on drinking plenty of water, working as little outside as possible, taking breaks in shaded or air conditioned places and should watch for signs of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, which can include nausea, disorientation, seizures or a loss of consciousness.
