Gladys Sabin, 76, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Gladys Mary Sabin of Albert Lea will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the Funeral Home.

Gladys died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at her home in Albert Lea, after a short battle with cancer. She was 76 years old.

Gladys was born Aug. 9, 1934, in Worth County, Iowa, to John Alvin and Anna Harriet (Anderson) Flattum. She attended Silver Lake No. 6 rural school and Lakes Mills Community School. Gladys has resided near Silver Lake, Iowa, Bricelyn, New Richland, Waseca, Lake Mills, Iowa, and Albert Lea. She married Ralph J Sabin on Nov. 8, 1952. Gladys had worked for Deluxe in Lake Mills, Iowa, and for Fountain Industries in Albert Lea.

Gladys enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, watching the Twins and Vikings and playing cards. Gladys especially enjoyed being with her family and her camping buddy, Boo Cat.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Ralph J Sabin, Albert Lea; children: Robert D Sabin of Albert Lea, Donald T Sabin of Albert Lea, James L Sabin of Emmons, DeAnn M (Sabin) Bronson and her husband Morris of Alden; grandchildren: Brett, Roger, Tina, Matthew, Timothy and Joshua, Jacqueline; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Miranda, Amber, Anjelique, Katriiel, Samantha, Dominic; one brother, Arthur Flattum and his wife Debbie of Albert Lea; one sister, Josephine (Flattum) Sherwood of Lake Mills, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sadie Flattum; and many nieces and nephews.

Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter, Beverly (Sabin) Nelson; parents: John Alvin and Anna Harriet Flattum; brothers: Orville, Carl and her twin brother, George; and brother-in-law, Harold Sherwood.

Gladys will be missed by all of her family and friends from all their years of camping.
