New Richland is ready for festivities

NEW RICHLAND — New Richland’s Farm & City Days, a weekend of fun for all ages, will be Friday through Sunday this year.

The Lions Club will sponsor a potato bake supper, complete with root beer floats, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. Lion’s bingo will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at City Park.

Then a talent contest called New Richland’s Got Talent will be at 7 p.m. Friday night. Admission is $4 and refreshments will be served. Bring your own lawn chair.

Then after dark, or around 10 p.m., the movie “Big Miracle” will be shown in the park. Popcorn will be provided, but bring your own chair and beverage.

Saturday’s events include the annual flower show at City Hall and a pancake breakfast also at City Hall from 7 to 10 a.m.

There will be a three-person scramble at 9 a.m. at Riverview Golf Course on Saturday.

Then there will be a kiddie parade at 11 a.m., a tractor pull at 2 p.m. and more children’s activities throughout the day. The kids fun zone at City Park will be from 1 to 6 p.m. with inflatables, water wars, facepainting and more. Wristbands are $10 in advance or $15 on Saturday.

The 2-mile Panther Fun Run/Walk starts at 8 a.m. and is open to everyone. The event is not timed, and there are no awards. The event is being held with the idea of people being healthy and staying active.

The course will begin and end at Country Neighbors. Registration on the day of the run/walk will begin at 7 a.m. in the city park in New Richland with a fee of $15. Contact Mike Weber at 507-475-1012 with more information.

The Lions will hold bingo in the park on Saturday, and the Top 25 car show will be held on Broadway Avenue in New Richland. Registration is from 8 to 10 a.m., and the show runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday evening will be a street dance featuring the band IV Play from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Admission is $8.

Sunday’s events include a community worship service in the park at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, county pork producers will serve a lunch at 11:30 a.m.

The grand parade will be Sunday at 1 p.m. with more entertainment following, including Stix of Fury performing at 3 p.m. and Lion’s bingo from 3 to 6 p.m. in City Park. And as always, there will be an ice cream social at 4 p.m. at the St. Peter Church in Otisco.
