Car hits fertilizer tank Monday

A vehicle reportedly hit a fertilizer tank at 3:57 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 810th Avenue and 200th Street in Hayward, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports. Casper Leland Kycek, 78, was cited for inattentive driving and driving after cancellation. No one was injured.
Reports stated there was a lot of nitrogen spilled on the ground during the crash, but it was cleaned up.
Fires reported
Small fires were reported in fields about one-fourth of a mile north of the intersection of 700th Avenue and 240th Street in Albert Lea at 10:52 a.m. Saturday. Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports state the cause of the fires is unknown. Most of the fires were put out by a deputy and hunters, though the Manchester Fire Department also responded.
A fire was reported at 1:10 p.m. Sunday at 77877 235th St. in Albert Lea, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports. No other information was available as of press time.
Burglaries reported
A garden shed at 401 Park St. in Freeborn was reported broken into at 3:12 p.m. Saturday, according to Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports.
A riding lawn mower was reported taken from a shed at 16341 785th Ave. at 4:10 p.m. Sunday.
A burglary was reported at The Elbow Room, 310 E. Eighth St., at 6:01 a.m. Monday, according to police reports. Reports indicated the burglary gained entry through the front door.
Items were reported taken from a residence at 2130 Grand Ave. at 9:28 p.m. Friday, reports stated.
5 arrested for underage consumption
Five people were arrested for underage consumption at 11:07 p.m. Friday at 2301 E. Main St. According to police, Broxton David Rush Lynch, James Frederick Michae Hau, Anthony Allen Kamish, Chrisopher Lee Beer and Katie Jean Marie Felt were cited for underage consumption. Felt was also cited for funishing the alcohol and a social host violation. Beer was also cited for providing alcohol to a minor.
Two cited for possession
Police cited Shawn Allen Richards and Krista Ann Rowand for fifth-degree possession Saturday night after police received a call of two people allegedly stealing items from Walmart and then leaving in a car. Richards was also cited with theft, small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident reportedly occurred at 10:31 p.m. Saturday.
Man cited for DWI
Police cited Marcos Jesus Guerra for third-degree driving while intoxicated at 1:53 a.m. today at 606 S. Broadway Ave., according to reports.
Hit-and-run reported
A hit-and-run crash was reported at 721 Marshall St. at 8:28 p.m. Monday, reports stated.
