Here are highlights in history for Nov. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — One of the Tribune’s columnists was Carol Marcella, the managing editor. Another regular columnist was Jack Anderson of United Features Syndicate.
1979 — As a special gift for her birthday, Shelly Radue of Albert Lea was given a balloon ride from north Albert Lea to a corn field between Clarks Grove and Hollandale. (The balloon was provided by a firm in Rochester.)
1969 — The Salvation Army Community Center (Meighen Hall) on Court Street was opened. It contained a chapel, classroom and recreation area.
