Here are highlights in history for Nov. 14, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — A letter to the editor complained about the lack of sidewalks on portions of Hawthorne and Ramsey Streets.
1980 — An open house at Stiles Ace Hardware, 416 Bridge Ave., would be held the following week. (This site had been a supermarket and is now Albert Lea’s Salvation Army store.)
1970 — About 160 people attended an appreciation dinner for Albert Lea Police Chief Clifford Bailey. One of those attending was Minneapolis Mayor Charles Stenvig.
