Bowlers roll to state

The Albert Lea/New Richland high school bowling teach advanced to the state tournament Saturday after winning the South Central Conference tournament at Holiday Lanes.
The team had a 54-26 regular season record to go along with a regular season conference championship and were seeded No. 1 at the tournament.
In their first game, Albert Lea/New Richland defeated United South Central 3-0 with an average score of 183.
The team then beat Mankato West 3-1. with an average game score of 215.25 .
In the championship match, the bowlers beat Owatonna 3-0 with an average score of 233, while compiling an average score of 211.2 for the tournament.
During league and state tournament play, each team is allowed eight bowlers. The Albert Lea/New Richland team is comprised of two seniors, four sophomores, a ninth-grader and an eighth-grader.
The Minnesota state high school tournament is Dec. 4 at Midway Pro Bowl in St. Paul.
