Domestic Engineers

Domestic engineers met on Nov. 9 in the home of Neva Matheson. There were eight members present.
Sharon Jahnke, president, called the meeting to order and thanked the hostess.
Sharon Overgaard gave a presentation of the trip the family had taken to Bogata, Columbia, last summer. She explained the work they had done in a children’s home while there and also how the home’s managers select the children living there. They are not orphans, but come from very poor environments. This gives them an opportunity to improve their lives and futures.
Secretary’s report was read and approved. Darla Christenson gave the treasurer’s report as Judy Myers, treasurer, was absent.
The Christmas party update was given by Jean McCarthy. It wil be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Wedgewood Cove Golf Club. Orders will be taken from the menu. Christmas gifts for secret pals will be brought and names revealed. Names will be drawn for next year.
Christenson will be the hostess in January.
Beverly Diercks reported she and Gen Montei had completed plans for “Holiday Happening.” It will be held Dec. 14 in the America’s Best Value Inn at 11:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 11 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m. They planned that each member should bring something for the Salvation Army’s food shelf.
Entertainment will be by Mary Wayne and Gail Thurnau.
Diercks handed out nature calendars. Members are to record what they see in nature and will discuss it at the next month’s meeting. Phyllis Hamborg volunteered to be the hostess in May 2011.
Diercks made a motion to adjorn and Christenson seconded it.
Sharon read “Passing of Pillsbury Doughboy.”
Lunch was served by hostess Neva Matheson.
