Joyce Matthies Dance Ensemble performs Sunday

The Joyce Matthies Dance Ensemble will present their annual concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available at the box office before the show but will be $2 more.
The concert opens with the ballet “Eventide” with music by Chopin. The ballet division of the dance ensemble are Kayla Swee, Katelynn Hendrickson and Lindsey Horejsi. They will perfom to “Norturne, a Waltz” and finished with “Fantastic Impromptu.” Also, Kayla Swee dances a solo to “Mazurka,” and Macy Paul performs to “Etude.” Members of the Junior Ballet Ensemble will do “Mazurk” and a prelude. They are Morgan Phillps, Madeline Phillips, Kelsey Enger, Justine Nelson and Alysia Ness.
“Pieces of Glass” using music composed by Phillip Glass is the second part of the program. Amy Horejsi and Macy Paul will perform solos. Other members of the jazz division are Lindsey Horejsi, Katelyn Hendrickson and Kattie Appel. The Junior Jazz Ensemble of ngie Schmitt, Madeline Phillips, Morgan Phillips, Kelsey Enger, Justine Nelson and Mackenzie Glaser will also perform.
The last section of the show is “Get Low.” Here is a mixture of music from the fun of “Big Things” to the intensity of 24 hours. Some of the artists heard are Tom Jones, Paul Anka and Brian Setzer. The concert was choreographed by Joyce Matthies. Charles Boentgen designed the lighting, and Nick Gosen is doing the sound.
