Hayward Lutheran Church would like to invite people of all ages to attend their annual cookie sale from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

WELCA Co-President Janet Kromminga said there will be lots of treats and ethnic goodies for sale, as well as silent auction items and a raffle.

Members of the church also had the opportunity to decorate a table with holiday dishes and place settings. Each table has a story that tells about how the owner got the place settings.

The silent auction will take place before the event ends at 11 a.m. The centerpieces on the decorated tables will be part of the auction, as well as a rocking chair and foot stool that were donated by Bill Lyle.

Raffle items include a quilt donated by Caroline Matson, an afghan donated by Beatrice Wacholz and a quilt box donated by Lou Larson. You don’t need to be present to win the raffle item.

Kromminga said there is often lefse, krumkaker and fattigmond, among other traditional Norwegian goodies.

Other treats for sale include cookies, baked breads and fresh homemade rolls.

“You’d be surprised at the variety of things that come,” Kromminga said.

The event raises money for the church missions, and Kromminga said there are usually about 100 people who attend.
