These are volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Meal delivery helpers: Residents at Senior Towers and Shady Oaks need your help to receive noon meals prepared on site. Plan for 45 minutes starting at 11:30 a.m. any weekday. Please call Stumme at 377-7433 for details and to secure the day that’s best for your schedule.
Getting ready for school: Families and students are making plans for children’s hours out of school. Answers are in the out of school activity guide and community resources booklet distributed at the conferences/orientation for parents and teachers before school begins. Volunteers are needed in Alden from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27, in Albert Lea on Aug. 29 and 30, and in Glenville Sept. 4. Call Stumme at 377-7433 for your time to help families get their planners.
Front desk phone answering: The SEMCAC Office, 22020 Stevens St., Albert Lea needs telephone help from 1 to 4:30 p.m. for one or two days a week. You can get additional details from Linda Lares at 373-1329.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
