NEW RICHLAND — Carlie Wagner scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds Tuesday for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls’ basketball team, as the Panthers cruised past Mankato Loyola 71-19.
“We did a good job of pushing the ball before we could set up their defense,” Panthers head coach John Schultz said.
The Panthers (1-1, 1-0 Gopher) outrebounded Loyola (0-2, 0-2) 54-17 and grabbed 33 offensive rebounds.
“If we did miss our shots, the girls hit the boards hard,” Schultz said. “I’m very proud of their hustle.”
Kristina Cole had 17 points, nine steals and eight rebounds for the Panthers, who led 46-11 at halftime, and Raelin Schue had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Panthers play again at 6 p.m. Friday as the host Blue Earth Area (1-0).
