Kayla Koenecke, the daughter of Lisa and Greg Koenecke of Delano and granddaughter of Dave and Elaine Long of Albert Lea, was picked to be the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Player of the Year by league coaches participating in the 2012 NSIC preseason volleyball poll.

Koenecke, a junior at Concordia University, is a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American player, two-time All-NCAA Tournament Team performer, two-time All-Region first team pick and two-time All-NSIC First Team selection.

Concordia University is the five-time defending national champion division II in women’s volleyball.
