Here are highlights in history for Dec. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — The Tribune was inviting readers to help select the top 10 local news stories of the year. These readers were given a listing of 26 events to use for making their choices.
1982 — A Tribune article saluted Harlan Bang who had been the principal at Halverson Elementary School for 25 years. This article also emphasized that he was the school’s first principal.
1942 — The students of Hammer School presented the play, “Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick” at the Eagles Club in Albert Lea.
