The Investigative Paranormal Society of Minnesota, also known as TIPSMN, will conduct two paranormal investigations at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center on Halloween night as part of an Albert Lea Community Education class.

During the first half of each investigation, students will observe the ghost hunting team, and then for the second half, students will be given tools to conduct their own investigation.

Students are welcome to bring their own audio recorder, video camera and camera to the investigation.

The first paranormal investigation will go from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and the second will go from 10 p.m. to midnight. The fee is $19.

People must register in advance for the sessions. To sign up, contact the Albert Lea Community Education Office at 379-4834 no later than Friday. There are still spots available.

Friday, Oct. 30

The Pat Waddick art show will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from noon to 4 p.m.

 The Power 96 Hotel Halloween Carnival will be held at the Country Inn & Suites in Albert Lea from 4 to 7 p.m. Parents must accompany children. There will be complimentary Halloween bags for the first 200 kids. The event will have candy, popcorn, prizes and decorations. Local businesses will sponsor and decorate hotel rooms with themes fitting for the Halloween holiday. The visitors get to vote for their favorite room. Plaques will be handed out for first, second and third places. Firefighters and law officers will be on hand to discuss trick-or-treat safety. Mall of America family fun packs, valued at $168 and featuring passes to MOA attractions, will be given away. Bikes will be given away, too.

Saturday, Oct. 31

Albert Lea American Legion Post 56 will host a “Share Old Stories” breakfast hosted by Bob Haskins from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Biscuits and gravy, fruit, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $6 per person.

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Pat Waddick art show will be open at the Albert Lea Art Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 Northbridge Mall will host a magic show at 3 p.m. Trick-or-treating at the mall will follow from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Albert Lea Solo Parents & Singles Club will hold its annual Halloween dance from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the New Richland American Legion Club. There will be prizes for the best costumes and the Buck Hollow Band will play.

Sunday, Nov. 1

 A “Wipe Out the Debt” dinner, hhosted by Commander Rex Stotts, will be served at Albert Lea American Legion from 10:45 am. to 1:15 p.m. Baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mixed vegetables, rolls, sherbet and coffee will be served. Cost is $25 per person or $40 for two.

A dance will be held at the Carpenter, Iowa, Community Center from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Malek’s Fishermen will play.
