This fall the United Way of Freeborn County makes its annual push for charitable contributions to assist agencies that help people in need.

Indeed, because this is a tight year for everyone, it is all the more reason to give. The needs out there are great. The challenge to assist people this year is at a high point for anyone who didn’t live during the Great Depression.

You will find joy in your heart by helping others, even if it means you have to go with less than before.

It’s about helping your fellow human. It’s a silent reward. You probably won’t get your name in the paper or some big award for giving. But you will have self-satisfaction and the quiet assurance of knowing you did the right thing.
