MINNEAPOLIS — Several hundred shovelers were ready to lend a hand at the University of Minnesota’s TCF Stadium early Thursday.

The university promised between $9 and $10 an hour to remove snow from seating areas, concourses and the playing field. The Minnesota Vikings are waiting for NFL approval to use the stadium for its game against the Chicago Bears after the Metrodome roof caved under the heavy snow.

Some shovelers got tired of waiting in line to get checked in at the stadium and headed home.
