Here are highlights in history for Dec. 20, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — The Tribune published a page of letters to Santa from a group of elementary school children in the Albert Lea system.
1979 — A full page ad in the Tribune featured the new Virginia Slims Light Cigarettes. With this ad was a warning that “cigarette smoking is dangerous to your health.”
1949 — About 600 people attended three one-act plays at the Walters School, which added $300 to a PTA fund to redecorate the school building.
