Here are highlights in history for Dec. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — The Christmas program at the Emmons Elementary School was based on a presentation of the play, “Sixth Grade Scrooge.”
1980 — Maude M. Kovenig, the Tribune’s “Nature’s World” columnist, commented on how gray squirrels were hiding kernels of corn from a feeder in her backyard for future meals.
1970 — Stan Nykvist, an exchange student from Sweden, was a member of the Albert Lea High School hockey team.
