Tigers finish regular season with home win

The final regular season match for the Albert Lea volleyball team gave the Tigers a chance to pick up their first home win of the season and knock off rival Austin.
Albert Lea (8-18) accomplished both Thursday in Albert Lea with a 25-19, 26-24, 16-25, 25-20 victory over the Packers to end the regular season.
“The girls just really, really wanted to beat Austin in this game and they really pulled through with a goal that they set in order to do that and get another conference win,” said Tigers head coach Jaime Mauseth, who is also Austin grad.
It was the second time Albert Lea has beaten the Packers this season. The first came at the John Marshall Invite Sept. 19.
The Tigers came from behind in the first two sets for victories and put the Packers away in the fourth set.
Kristine Kelly led Albert Lea with eight kills and 17 digs and Caylee Tennis added 18 assists.
Albert Lea’s serving was strong against Austin with Bethany Sekora tallying five aces and London Avery adding three.
The Tigers begin the section playoffs Wednesday. Their opponent has not been determined yet.
