Here are highlights in history for Dec.. 22, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — The Days Inn, 2306 E. Main St., would be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for Christmas Day buffet. Cost was $8.25 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and $3.95 for children ages 3 to 10.
1981 — The Albert Lea Chorale, Boys’ Quartet and Carolers would be presenting a Christmas program on KAAL-TV.
1951 — Bumper Westrum scored 31 points to lead the Albert Lea High School Tigers basketball team in a 55-53 overtime victory over Austin High School.
