First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met at 1:15 p.m. in Bethany Hall on Dec. 8.

Prelude music was provided by Joan Holt. Co-President Jinni Olson welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by Shirlie Brownlow.

The purpose statement was read in unison by everyone. Olson introduced the program “Lena & Mena” by Mary Wayne and Gail Thurnau.

Holt presented a reading and conducted the installation of 2011 officers. Olson conducted the business meeting.

Secretary’s report was approved as printed by Nancy Jensen and was seconded by Bonnie Schneider. The report will be placed on file.

Treasurer’s report was given by Beth Doyle and will be placed on file for audit.

Olson thanked Marcia Habben and Doyle for the beautiful decorations on the stage and Marlene Behle and Diane Damerow for co-chairing the noon lunch for Holidays Ahead.

Doyle reminded everyone to remember their secret prayer partners.

Shirlie Brownlow announced that First Lutheran will be hosting “Grief Sharing” by Ginny Ackland. This will be held on Saturdays and could be a 12-week session.

Schneider announced that the Triennial Convention for 2011 will be held in Spokane Washington July 14-21. To get the early discount, reservations need to be made by Jan. 17. Damerow announced the July Field Trip to Plymouth Theatre to see “Marvelous Wonderettes” with a noon lunch.

Olson read a poem that was written about the organization and enjoyed by everyone. Behle and Damerow presented a gift to Olson and Vonnie Oftedahl for their work in 2010.

Offering prayer was given by Olson.

Hostesses: Chairperson Virginia Hermanson and her committee: Lots Jensen, Joyce Johnson, Isabel Lee, Mildred Wing and Carol Olson

Caring and Sharing: Co-chairpersons Carol Colstrup and Wanda Dormant and their committee served three funerals in November.

Past events:

• Dec. 15 and 22 — Advent recitals were held in the sanctuary.

• Dec. 21 — Friends at First Christmas Luncheon with the staff at 11:30 a.m. in Bethany Hall.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

The table prayer was sung before dessert and coffee were served.
