The Freemond Madson Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post 447 met at the American Legion hall Dec. 13 with Eunice Hatleli, president, presiding. Vickie Allen acted as secretary.
Preceding the business meetings a joint post and auxiliary Christmas potluck supper was enjoyed.
The charter was draped in memory of deceased sisters, Marvelyn Grinolds and Vivian McCall. Bless their memory.
A donation of $50 each was given to the Salvation Army and the hospital Memories Aglow Tree in memory of all the departed 2010 members.
The First District VFW Auxiliary meeting held Dec. 4 at Austin VFW Post 1216 was attended by Beverly Boone, Betty Jones and Ruby Fredrickson. Fredrickson reported a special election for district chaplain was held. Maxine Shell of Lake City was elected. Cheryl Hermanson of Cannon Falls was appointed to district patriotic instructor. Jones had made a small category five poppy display, which won the category. The next district meeting will be Feb. 5 hosted by Post 3723 and Auxiliary, Owatonna, to be conducted by District President Sonia Tatge.
The next No. 447 Auxiliary meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at the Legion hall.
Cookies and coffee were served following the meeting.
