St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 in St. John’s Chapel. President Carol Rask welcomed everyone and gave devotions. Becky Nordland on piano led the group in singing.
Auxiliary Secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the July meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schoper gave her report. Both were approved.
Volunteer Coordinator Carla Reichel reported 1,090 volunteer hours in July. Day Care had 24 hours, three You & Me Clubs, and three sing-alongs.
Reichel also reported on activities for September: Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. will be Gary Froiland music; Sept. 8 will be Cowboy Jim music; Sept. 14 will be Del and Caroline Belgalka music; Sept. 18 will be Richard Hagdom music; Sept. 28 will be Kent Larson. The auxiliary’s annual fundraiser will be Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with dining in or the new drive through option.
There were 163 fair entries, five grand champion purple ribbons and two reserve purple ribbons. There were 41 residents who attended the fair on Senior Citizens Day. The 50th open house at St. John’s had great weather and great music by L.A. Sasse. The event was enjoyed by all who attended.
Vice President Caroline Sorenson read the names of residents celebrating August birthdays.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were: Community Lutheran in Geneva, Mansfield Lutheran, Our Savior’s Lutheran and Ascension Lutheran Mary Circle.
The program was provided by Salem Lutheran. Lots Anderson had several readings. The group sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Jesus Loves Me.” The meeting closed with a prayer of thanks.
Refreshments were provided by 2nd South (banana bread) and St. John’s Dietary Department. The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
