Here are highlights in history for Jan. 4, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1986 — Sharon Cunicelli became the new Freeborn County deputy auditor in charge of the Auto and Driver License Bureau. She replaced Ione Hanson, who retired from this position after 38 years of service.
1976 — A city map in this issue of the Tribune showed the proposed zone designations for residential, business and industrial areas.
1946 — Work was under way to widen the spillway at Juglans Dam, located at the outlet of Albert Lea Lake.
