Snyder Fields was packed with 27 softball teams, 13 bean bag teams and many friends and family of Ryan ‘Pie’ Truesdell on Saturday as the sixth annual Ryan “Pie” Truesdell Memorial Sports Weekend kicked off.

“I’ve put in a lot of hours in out here this week and I’m always the first one on and the last one off,” said Truesdell’s dad, Scott Truesdell. “When I pulled in here about 6:30 this morning, the sun was just coming up and there wasn’t a soul here. It was just quiet and it’s really cool how it evolves and people just keeping showing up and showing up.”

In addition to the tournaments a variety of food was offered, full face painting, home run derby, silent auction and a hog raffle.

Truesdell said the family is really proud people keep showing up. Some of Ryan’s best friends are starting to come with their children now. He knows they will continue benefit after the family can’t anymore.

Truesdell commented that the weather has never been bad for the event.

“I always say, Ryan’s in charge of the weather,” said Truesdell.

The weekend ended with the finals rounds of softball on Sunday and a second hog raffle.
