Here are highlights in history for Jan. 9, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — The only major city building permit issued during December was for the new Kingdom Hall which was built by members of Jehovah’s Witnesses in one weekend.
1974 — School District 241 Board of Education approved a nickel increase in hot lunch prices for city school students. Thus, the total price for those lunches would be 40 cents.
1964 — The Rev. Roger J. Berdahl, pastor of Hayward and Trondhjem Lutheran Churches, accepted a call to be the new pastor of Kenwood Lutheran Church in Duluth.
