AUSTIN — The Austin Packers girls’ hockey team rallied from 4-1 deficit Tuesday to force overtime and a 5-5 tie at Riverside Arena in Austin.
The Packers’ Carley Grunewald tied things up when she scored on a six-on-four advantage with 1:07 left in the third period.
Austin (5-12, 1-7-1 Big Nine) had pulled their goalie when they picked up a penalty on Albert Lea (9-7-2, 5-3-2) to give them a two-skater advantage.
The Tigers took a 5-1 lead in the second when they scored four goals in a two-minute span.
The Tigers’ Anna Anderson scored twice and Megan Pulley and Kaley Waldemar each scored.
The Tigers play again at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against Mankato West (9-7-1, 6-4-1) at City Arena.
